Home Remedies for Sore Feet

Sore feet are a common problem and many people suffer from them — men, women, young and old.

So, what causes sore feet?

There are a variety of factors:

  • Wearing inappropriate shoes or any other kind of ill-fitting footwear
  • Plantar fasciitis – a disorder that affects the band of tissue across the sole of your foot. The pain feels more extreme in the morning, or after a long period of rest
  • Standing or walking for long periods of time
  • Sprains and muscle strains
  • Bunions and hammertoes
  • Morton’s neuroma – a disorder which affects the base of your toes (most especially the area between the third and fourth toes). It’s a thickening of the tissue around in one of the nerves that lead to the toes. The result is severe pain
  • Diabetic foot problems

Fortunately, there are home remedies for sore feet that can alleviate aching, painful, swollen, and sore feet. There are a lots of options that people can choose from to get rid of the sore feet.

Home Cures for Sore Feet

1. Rest your feet

As soon as you get home, take off your shoes and put on a comfortable pair of slippers.

The slippers should be soft, low-heeled and having the right size for your feet.

2. Take medications or apply ointments to your sore feet

For painful sore feet, you can take aspirin or other over-the-counter pain relief medications.

You can also buy topical remedies that contain eucalyptus oil, turpentine oil, or menthol. Gently rub it into your foot, massaging it in all areas — toes, sole, arch, ankles and heel, until you feel the pain has begun to dissipate.

If the pain is continuous and intense a trip to your care provider may be in order.

3. Elevate your feet

Another easy way to help throbbing, painful feet is to lie down on your back and elevate your feet on a pillow.

For best results, your feet should be about one foot above your head.

While in this position you can relax your entire body and reduce stress by doing deep breathing exercise or meditating.
